A treat that you won't forget, our new Dinner Plate Japanese Iris ensata collection is a spectacular new range that is very different from those of the more familiar German or Siberian forms and up to twice the size of normal ensata types. Affectionately known as 'Dinner Plate' Irises because of their huge blooms, these large-flowered beauties will delight you with flowers up to 15cm (6in) across.
Dinner Plate Irises are magnificent hardy perennials with large showy blooms giving you huge impact in your borders and containers, where their exquisite range of colours and slender foliage are perfect for adding interest and texture. Perfect for planting in moist soil, if plant them where you can keep them well-watered, either in containers or in garden beds and borders, then they naturalise readily, returning bigger and better each year.
Their decorative, orchid-like flowers are easy to grow and maintain, even by the most novice of gardeners and so everyone can have a go at growing them. Not just a pretty face in the garden, blooms can be cut for indoor arrangements and displays and have a light, subtle perfume.
Supplied as a collection of established plants in 2L pots, ready for immediate planting out.
Note that irises are deciduous, so no foliage will be present November - March.
