A bushy, deciduous shrub with very dark burgundy, almost chocolate foliage which contrasts well with the abundance of sulphur-yellow flowers in June and July, Diervilla splendens 'El Madrigal' Diva makes an ideal specimen shrub for any garden.
Also known as the American Bush Honeysuckle because of the shape of the flowers, it's a superb way to bring colour into your garden, the double-lipped blooms compliment perfectly the chocolate-red leaves, which turn red and orange in autumn.
Older leaves towards the base of the plant turn a deep, glossy green as they mature and as the flowers age, they develop an orange throat and are a magnet to pollinators, especially butterflies.
A new introduction, El Madrigal Diva spreads by sending up suckers which eventually form a decent sized clump, perfect for a massed planting.
Supplied as an established plant, ready for immediate planting and will eventually reach approx. H1.3 x W1m.
