Picea glauca 'Conica' is a slow-growing, broadly conical, evergreen conifer commonly known as the Alberta Spruce. The dense foliage has light green needles which eventually turn light bluish-green, making this an absolutely stunning garden specimen, which keeps its conical shape as it grows.
Superb in patio planters, Conica is also perfect for a short-term, table-top decoration, especially at Christmas, looking adorable when decked out with miniature lights. Great too for summer garden parties and barbeques, where its perfect form makes a perfect centerpiece. If indoors keep it in a bright room and then move it outside as soon as possible so that you can enjoy it for the rest of the year.
Best when grown in full sun, Conica is an excellent specimen tree for a small, sunny garden. Grow it in moist, well-drained, neutral to acid soil (or ericaceous compost if you wish to keep it in a pot). As Picea matures it will also produce oval, green cones in the summer that age to brown.
Easy to grow and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a conifer that will perform reliably in your garden, plus there's next to no aftercare to keep it looking perfect!
