Plant Info

Commonly called The Firecracker, and much easier to say than it's botanic name, it really does live up to that name as it explodes into exotic flowers each Summer.

The flower stems explode into life with a mixture of deep-red flowers, tipped yellowy green  in a lovely two-tone effect. Enjoy them on the plant, they also make fab cut flowers too, lasting surprisingly well.

Best grown in a group, plant them about 7-10cm apart, so they are perfect for one big pot of 30cm diameter, and let them grow in warm, sunny spots. The stems are quite thin, so need some support to hold the weight of the flowers. The flowers last well, and it is a very drought tolerant plant indeed. It may take a season to establish as a corm, before flowers are seen on all plants.

Hardy when given good drainage with added gravel or sand, a great little Firecracker to grow in pots, to bring out in Summer and enjoy.
