Rose of the Year 2021, 'Belle de jour', or beautiful day, is a beauty indeed! Delighting with its fabulously warm, rich, double golden yellow flowers for month after month from June, it’s an absolute joy. Growing up to 7cm across, the blooms are packed full of petals and carry a heady sweet vanilla perfume that fills the air around them.
A gorgeous addition to your garden, this award winning rose will be happy in sunny or lightly shaded borders or large patio containers where it'll create a beautiful focal point. The clusters of delightful flowers also last incredibly well when cut for the vase.
Being a floribunda, it's repeat flowering over a long season and has excellent disease resistance, is hardy and easy to grow. Reaching around 1m in height and spread, the perfect size for smaller gardens, containers or even as a hedge.

What Is Supplied
- The amount of growth on Potted roses will vary at different times of year, depending on when they are potted.
- Potted roses will be Freshly potted from November to February, so are not fully rooted through.
- They will have new shoots beginning in March and April.
- They will be in leaf and then buds May and June.
- They will be in flower June and July.
- From August onwards they may be trimmed back, ready to plant and burst back into life the next season.
- From the end of September your rose has received its trim which will help it to have stronger roots and better form next year.

Top Tips
- To prune, just remove any dead, dying, damaged and diseased stems and also deadhead regularly. Traditionally, you would cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back. They benifit from cutting back older stems hard in spring.
- When pruning, make sure that your secateurs are clean and sharp to prevent squashing stems and introducing disease. Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.

- Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
- Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
- For best results, feed roses in in late-March/April and again late July.
Planting Advice for 'Belle de Jour':
- Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought dry.
Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind. - Add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole and plant so that the graft union (the swollen are when the stems meet the roots) is just below soil level. Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.
