Product Description

A cut flower rose for home gardeners to grow, Rosa 'Timeless Purple' is a new introduction and as well as being the winner of Best in Show at the prestigious National Plant Show, it has also  showcased at the Chelsea Flower Show plant of the year, so it has already proved its garden-worthy status.

A Hybrid Tea, this gorgeous rose opens to show an old-fashioned, deep purple, multi-petalled bloom with a deep red tone to the centre.

The highly perfumed blooms are long-lasting and exemplary as cut flowers - making 'Timeless Purple' once of those indispensable garden plants that make the transition to cut flower with ease.

Roses are much easier to grow than most people think and they're not the demanding divas that the gardening 'Elite' would have us believe. This rose in particular has a hardy and robust constitution which makes it resistant to many common garden ailments and perfect if you've always wanted to grow roses but thought them too difficult!

Perfect for growing in a container too due to their compact habit, every gardener can grow roses whatever size of garden they have - or on the patio, terrace and balcony!

Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot, ready to be planted straight out and get on with producing those stunning blooms! Please note at certain times of the year this variety may be supplied in a 4L pot.

Plant Information

Top Tips

  • To ensure your cut roses stay looking good for as long as possible, cut them in the early morning when they're most hydrated.
  • Choose flowers it the late bud stage, not those that are already open.
  • With the stem underwater, remove an inch. This stops the water channels clogging with air bubbles.
  • Every 2 or 3 days, lift the stems from the vase and remove another inch of stem.

Care Guide

  • To prune, just remove any dead, dying, damaged and diseased stems and also deadhead regularly.
  • Traditionally, you would cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back.
  • When pruning, make sure that your secateurs are clean and sharp to prevent squashing stems and introducing disease.
  • Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.
  • Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought-dry.
  • Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.
  • Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, so add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole if necessary and plant so that the graft union (the swollen area when the stems meet the roots) is around 3cm below soil level.
  • Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
  • Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
  • For best results, feed roses in late-March/April and again in late July.
