Plant Information

Top Tips

  • Buddleia plants are low maintenance, but they do benefit from pruning in early spring to maintain a nice compact plant.

Care Guide

  • To plant, firstly water your potted plant well.
  • Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out some of the roots.
  • Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot then refill the hole with the earth removed.
  • Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well before adding a mulch around the base of the plant.
  • Water well until established.
  • Plant Buddleia in garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade.
  • 'Berries and Cream’ can also be grown in large patio container using soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3.
  • Prune Buddleja hard in March, once the hardest frosts are over, as the new growth begins to show. Firstly, remove any dead, diseased, damaged, or weak stems, before pruning all off the remaining stems back to form a low framework.
  • Drought tolerant once established.
