A new selection of the popular shrub Red Robin, this superb plant retains all of the features that make its cousin such a favourite but with the advantage of a more compact habit with smaller leaves that are more intensely coloured red. A very bright and rewarding plant, this fully hardy, evergreen beauty has a slower rate of growth and will reach around 1.5m (5ft) in height making it ideal for gardens where space is limited.
The unique colouring of 'Carre Rouge' makes it a wonderful plant to use in hedges, for mass plantings, in beds and borders or as a specimen plant in your favourite container on the terrace or balcony where it forms a great contrast to the more usual garden greens.
Easy to grow and hardly demanding any maintenance, photinia is robust and healthy - and you can plant it and leave it to do its thing with nothing more than a light prune in spring or summer to help keep it under control.
Supplied as an established plant in a 2L pot, Photinia prefers a sunny site but will tolerate partial shade and although frost hardy young plants should be protected in winter until established.
