For a spectacular display of late spring colour nothing beats Azaleas! A fantastic shrub for exotic colour this compact, evergreen azalea becomes simply smothered with blousy blooms in April and May. 'Hot Shot' is a lightly variegated variety with cream-edged leaves and stunning red blooms, making it an exceptional Azalea!
Slow-growing and hardy, 'Hot Shot' is perfect for any border and does best in dappled shade provided the soil is slightly acidic. Alternatively, it can be grown in a large pot anywhere using ericaceous compost - although try to avoid situations where it can become too hot such as a reflective patio.
This compact, evergreen shrub makes an excellent low-maintenance specimen for acid borders and patio containers, and suits any size garden, terrace or balcony.
With a combination of variegated, evergreen foliage and spectacular spring flowers, this charming Azalea will give you year-round interest in your garden.

Top Tips
- Can be kept in a pot (remember to use ericaceous compost) but must be fed and watered well and re-potted every couple of years.
- Place your Azaleas in front of other evergreen such as conifers to really set off their colours.
Care Guide
- Azaleas can tolerate a more open site as long as they are sheltered from cold, drying winds and early morning sunlight.
- Your Azalea should be planted slightly higher than it was in its pot into well-draining soil.
- Azaleas need an acidic soil with a pH of around 5.5 in order to thrive - soils with pH higher than 5.5 should be acidified before planting or you can grow them in a container with ericaceous compost.
- Their shallow root systems quickly capture rain, so plants need to be kept well-watered. A mulch keeps them from drying out. Therefore, mulch plants and water deeply and regularly during dryer periods from July onwards.
- When watering, try to use rainwater as tap water tends to be too hard and more alkaline.
- Plants benefit from a yearly feed, and our Azalea, Rhododendron and Shrub feed is the ideal formulation.
