It's hard to beat the sleek and simple lines of well-trimmed quality Buxus, adding a modern yet classic look to any garden.
Used for centuries as a classic garden hedge or to form borders around other planting such as roses, Buxus sempervirens is a well-loved and instantly recognised feature of both formal and contemporary gardens.
Equally at home in small or large gardens, box hedging is perfect for edges, borders and small boundaries, and makes neat hedges 1m tall over 10 years if required, although can be kept much smaller if needed.
Whether dressing either side of a classic porch, or as a feature in minimalist decking gardens, it's hard to think of another easy to grow, yet versatile plant as good as Box.
Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, these 15-20cm plants are 3 years old and trimmed several times to give really bushy plants that make growing a box hedge easy. Plant one plant per 25cm (10in) for best results. Totally hardy too, leave them out all year - they look great covered in snow too!
The key with Box is not to let them dry out - especially when in full sun for much of the day. Keep the roots cool and well-watered and they will grow 10-15cm per year. Do not trim for 2-3 years after planting, then lightly tip in summer as needed.

Care Guide
Planting Advice for your Box plants:
- Plant box in autumn or spring in fertile, well-drained soil and keep it watered, especially if grown in full sun.
- Pot-grown plants can be planted any time of year as long as the ground is not wet or waterlogged.
- Box will tolerate shade so is great for growing underneath trees and makes superb border edging.
- Suitable for growing in a wide range of containers, why not try your hand at a range of topiary styles and shapes - it's great as a way to get kids involved with gardening and isn't just reserved for grand estates!
Aftercare Advice for Buxus:
- Besides keeping plants well-watered, box appreciates a light top dressing with a slow release, general purpose fertiliser such as fish blood & bone in early spring, taking care to avoid the leaves.
Pruning Advice for Box:
- Pruning box is simple. Box is best clipped in July and August - any earlier and you risk damage from late frosts which can damage soft new growth while any later means that the new shoots are not hardened sufficiently for the following winter.
- Old, scruffy plants can be clipped to 15-30cm of the ground (6-12in) to rejuvenate them.
- The small leaf size of Buxus means that you can achieve a whole range of topiary shapes and styles with the minimum of experience - box is remarkably resilient.

I have finally received this order on the 3rd attempt. Placed order in November which did not arrive as Yodel said it was damaged. Reordered and it happened again, so had to contact Garden Bargains again and finally received order.Product:

The items I ordered were ok and delivered ok . BUT as a "member " expecting the promised discounts of 5 each 3 months by adding the code in at checkout materialised only once or twice . Sending an e mail to query and complain about it elicited nothing . Not even a reply , so ok items but customer service NIL points a d overall the same , dissapointing , expected a bit more than poor service for a 20 up front membership fee .
