Primula 'Gold Lace' produces wave after wave of beautifully contrasting, deepest mahogany purple to black blooms, each with an exquisite golden 'lace' stripe around each petal and a golden, central eye. Each sturdy, upright stem can carry around 10-15 blooms, creating beautiful drumstick heads of colour.
While they have the same number of petals as any other primula, their unique lacing gives the effect that they have twice as many petals and their delightful blooms add a sophisticated contrast when planted with other primulas.
This is a hardy, new and improved version of a classic old favourite that has been popular since the Victorian times when such delicate beauties were highly prized and exhibited along with auriculas and other members of the primula family in special Auricula Theatres.
Very easy to grow and look after, they look wonderful dotted round borders randomly, or in groups in larger pots - especially traditional real aged terracotta - where they look beautiful in spring sunshine.
A reliable perennial and naturalising easily, they form tight clumps over several years, and are a constant surprise when they emerge each spring. They sometimes even flower again in later summer and autumn.
They are perfect for lightly shaded borders and a few stems of cut flowers will look elegant and eye-catching in a posy vase on your kitchen table!
Supplied as a collection of 12 Jumbo Plug Plants, ready to pot straight on into their final positions.
