This superb apricot perfectly demonstrates that size is not everything or indeed that beauty really does come in small parcels! Shunned by most professional growers as the fruit was considered too small to sell to supermarkets, the variety is in high demand from top chefs who prize the stunning taste.
Petit Muscat is perhaps the perfect apricot for the garden. In early spring the tree is smothered in white fragrant blossom leading to bumper crops of greengage sized golden fruit which are ripe to eat in early August. Crops can be huge and the flavour is intense and honey sweet, reiniscent of muscat grapes. Stone size is very small so although fruits are not the largest each one gives a juicy mouthful!
Trees are compact and easy to manage and precocious in nature meaning you'll get good crops of fruit early in the trees life, continuing for many years.
