Nectarine Fantasia is one of the best varieties to grow in the garden. Not only is it tough and hardy withstanding the worst of winter weather but it reliably produces delicious bright red fruits in British summers. Fantasia is self-fertile too so you'll not need to worry about pollination.
Expect a profusion of pink blossom in April followed by a heavy crop of tennis ball sized bright red nectarines in August. Fruits have superbly sweet and juicy yellow flesh and the stones come away freely so they are easier to eat than some.
For best results grow in a warm sunny spot - Fantasia does wonderfully fan trained agaist a wall or in a large pot on the patio. Like all nectarines it is prone to leaf curl if exposed to winter rains- this can be prevented by a simple canopy of polythene or by moving pots under cover.
