These classic fragrant Dianthus 'Pinks' are a cottage garden favourite and deservedly so. These varieties represent the best of the varieties that have stood the test of time for many years, and become gardeners’ favourites the world over - with that irresistible old-fashioned fragrance it's not hard to see why!
Their wonderful clove-fragranced blooms make the prettiest of displays in the garden and they will flower throughout the summer months, from May right through to the autumn. The plants will form lovely dense clumps of evergreen foliage that will provide great ground cover with a succession of beautiful fragrant blooms rising up above the rosette of leaves and showing themselves off.
Perfectly winter hardy, but ideal for a sunny bed or border, these easy to grow plants will establish and thrive for years to come. What’s more, they’re also the perfect flower for growing in a ‘cut flower’ garden, ideal for cutting at the stem and bringing indoors to create the most beautiful displays in vases – or given as a bunch to friends and family.
The charming old-fashioned varieties you’ll receive are:
Cranmere Pool, Diane, Doris, Grans Favourite, Haytor White and Letitia Wyatt.
Service rating : The only reason for this rating is that the Chrysanthemums dispatched were forced into plastic containers which were clearly not tall enough for the cuttings supplied.
I am aware that these plants need 'stopping' to encourage side shoots but cramming the cuttings into the poor packing 'stopped' the cuttings with only stems showing, no leaves left on the plants!
I have potted up the stem cuttings as the root structure was good and it looks as though they will recover although it has set them back more than desired.
Product : Good sized plugs.
