Product Description

A lovely addition to any home, this stylish planter will burst into life and fill with fabulous flowers – such a treat!

Made from attractive natural wicker and fully lined, it’ll suit any home style and makes a great gift. It’s always so exciting to watch the shoots appear, growing each day followed by the flamboyant flower stems, each one covered in dozens of incredibly fragrant pure white flowers that will fill any room with their heady perfume for weeks.

Plant the hyacinths in autumn, and they’ll soon begin to sprout. Once flowering has finished the bulbs can be stored ready for planting outdoors the following autumn. Alternatively, they can be left in the planter, where they’ll regrow if kept in a cool, dark place for a few weeks.

Supplied as a wicker basket planter with compost and 6 hyacinth bulbs, size 16/17, growing to a height of 30 cm (1 ft).

Plant Information

Top Tips

  • After flowering, potted bulbs can be planted in the garden. You can either plant them straight out, or you can save the bulbs until September and then plant them outside or pot them up again.

Care Guide

Planting Advice for your hyacinth bulbs

  • Plant with about a third of the bulb above the surface of the compost.
  • They are fine to plant even if a little green growth is showing, they'll just need a good watering when you plant them, and then only when the soil is dry.
  • While all the energy that a bulb needs in order to grow is stored in the bulb itself, they will do better if you feed them when in active green growth.
  • Be sure to water frequently and keep moist.

Aftercare Advice for your hyacinths

  • Spring-flowering bulbs should be planted in the autumn for displays next season. This allows them to establish a good root system before the weather becomes too cold.
  • Water frequently and ensure that the compost doesn't dry out.
  • Once flowering has finished the bulbs can be stored until autumn and replanted outdoors in herbaceous borders or pots to naturalise.
  • They can also be left in their indoor planter and stored in a cool, dark place until spring. Moisten the compost and gradually begin exposing them to light and you should see new shoots appearing.

Cutting your hyacinths back

  • Leave foliage to die back naturally after flowering, this allows as much energy as possible to go back into the bulbs for the following year. Only cut back the foliage once it has turned yellow or brown.
