If you have ever wondered why red robins are associated with Christmas, postmen in Victorian Britain were nicknamed 'Robins' beacause of their red breasted coloured uniforms that they wore over the winter months.  The idea caught on so quickly that the Robin became a symbol of Christmas in it's own right.
