“Love Your Houseplants? Get The Most Out Of Them With These Simple Instructions”

There's so much to get sorted outside in the autumn that houseplants can be neglected. Now is the best time to plant up pots with Amaryllis bulbs and prepared Hyacinths for a Christmas display.

Flowering houseplants will give a better display for longer if fed weekly with a liquid fertiliser. There's no need to feed leafy houseplants now until spring.

Start to reduce watering all houseplants as they're now beginning to grow less. Never leave water in plant saucers as this can cause roots to rot.

Move houseplants that have been enjoying the summer outside back into the house before the weather becomes too cool. When bringing plants indoors, check carefully for any pests and diseases they may have picked up outside, in particular red spider mite, mealy bug and scale insect. Inspect roots and compost for vine weevil larvae and treat where necessary.
