It has small, rounded, glossy green leaves and a dense habit. It is often used as hedging, or screening, but can also be clipped into different forms.
In terms of care this plant can be grown in a sunny or shady location, but exposure to excessive sunlight may result in scorched leaves. It is fully hardy and will grow well in most soil types and pH levels, provided that the soil is well drained. Water the plant regularly, at least once a week during dry periods and feed with a general purpose, slow release fertiliser each spring.
