One of the most popular varieties. Bright green foliage and vivid scarlet spikes of flowers in summer through to Autumn.
Height 30cm
Sow February and March. Flowers July onwards.
Half-Hardy Annual
Sow in pots or trays in a good compost under glass at 21-24°C. Cover the seeds lightly with sieved compost. Keep moist.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm (2”) apart. Grow on and gradually harden off for planting in the flowering site in late May 25cm (10”) apart.
Pinch out the growing point when plants are about 10cm (4”) tall to encourage branching with much more colour.
